J.L. - Rolf Esser

J.L.

December 9th was one day in the life
And I heard it from the radio
Someone shot him down in the shade of night
When he came home from the studio

You may say he was just a star
But who counts the thousands who die every day?
Let me tell you, he's one of them all
He's dead and not as big as you say

Chorus:
J.L. you're on my mind
You gave us your songs living still
You wanted peace
But you were the fool on the hill
J.L. you're in my heart
You made us think what we do
You wanted love
But the walrus was you

It started in Liverpool, Merseyside
The Rock'n'Roll changed and became the Merseysound
The times were exciting and breathless we were
About the new beat which was all around
There was "A Hard Day's Night" and "Rubber Soul"
And "Sergeant Pepper" took us by surprise
But the business was hard and a split in the end
Took away our hope for a new Beatles' rise

Chorus
